We are installing a new signalling system in the Clacton-on-Sea area to replace the Victorian equipment with modern technology, bringing it into the 21圣世纪。

Benefits of the programme
These works are a vital part of our strategy to provide a safer, reliable and more efficient railway putting our passengers first. The work will:

The early preparation works began in the winter of 2019 and have been progressing over the spring/summer of 2020 with major works required through the autumn and winter of 2020. The majority of works are expected to be completed in spring 2021.

To allow us to complete this important re-signalling and renewals programme, we are carrying out work over weekends and during a 23-day closure, starting on Saturday 20 February 2021, when trains will be replaced by rail replacement buses.
