We’re proposing an upgrade to a section of railway between Huddersfield and Westtown (Dewsbury) to deliver passenger benefits along the Transpennine railway.

Why is the scheme important?

Our first round of public consultation took place from Monday 9 September until Friday 25 October 2019. Within this period, we held nine events in the area between Huddersfield and Westtown (Dewsbury) where the public were able to attend, view our proposals, ask any questions and share their feedback.
Phase 2 public consultation
Our second round of public consultation took place from Monday 16 March until Thursday 30 April 2020. Due to the government advice on Covid-19, the eight events organised had to be cancelled. The public were still able to view the proposals online, feedback or ask any questions via the email or the helpline.

- Colne Bridge Road is formed of two arches, both are currently not large enough to allow for the proposed railway to pass through – this requires us to replace the bridge. Two options are currently being developed.

Consents for work
