We’re making improvements between Kings Lynn and Cambridge to allow for eight-car trains.

What are the benefits?
The programme is a £29m investment, funded by the DfT, to increase capacity on the busy route between Cambridge and King's Lynn by allowing eight-car formations to call at intermediate stations This will:

When are we going to deliver this work?
VolkerFitzpatrick started construction works in the autumn 2019. The construction work at Littleport and Waterbeach stations is expected to be completed by end of summer 2020 and all infrastructure work is expected to be completed by the end of autumn 2020. Eight car services are expected to commence operating on the Fen Line from the December 2020 timetable change.
Will this work affect train services?
To allow us to work on or close to the track, some weekend and bank holiday services between Cambridge and King’s Lynn will need to be suspended until end of autumn 2020 to allow our engineers to deliver these improvement works safely.
Great Northern和较大的英国人operate services between Cambridge and King’s Lynn which are likely to be affected by these works.越野services between Peterborough and Cambridge (via Ely) may also be affected by these works on the Fen line. SimilarlyEast Midlandsservices between Peterborough and Norwich (via Ely) may also be affected.
