We’re modernising the railway network with a record level of investment to improve passenger journeys across Sussex
By investing £750m to upgrade the network infrastructure and replace ageing equipment across the Sussex region with new, reliable digital signalling and train control, we’ll increase capacity, reduce delays and enhance safety.

Upgrade work
苏塞克斯升级包括169万英镑,以完全替换超过155公里的轨道和连接点。
Why is this work needed?
Poor track quality also affects cables and other electrical equipment causing faults and delays.
- 霍舍姆and Haywards Heath
- £5m at Clapham Junction for switches and crossings replacement
- Plain Line
- £2.6m of rail replacement between Anerley and Norwood junction
- Bletchingley隧道拨打200万英镑的轨道更换
- £1.8m of rail replacement between Gloucester Road Junction and West Croydon
Up to March 2024 we’re investing more than £238m to replace signalling systems in Sussex and into London to give passengers better journeys with fewer delays.
Why is this work needed?
Signalling is a crucial part of the railway infrastructure, allowing trains to move safely around the network.
To protect passengers, our signalling systems are designed to fail to a safe, so faulty components can often result in signals remaining at red, causing delays.
随着南伦敦的大部分信令基础设施接近其运行生活的结束,我们需要更换它以保持乘客可靠地移动。

We’re investing more than £94m to improve stations and buildings for passengers and our staff.

Investment is also needed to modernise stations to handle rising passenger numbers and provide the facilities people travelling today expect.

Keeping you moving
This record investment means that we are doing more to improve passenger journeys across Sussex and into London than ever before. It does mean there will be some disruption, and we’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum by doing most of the work when trains are not running. We will also need to work at weekends, bank holidays and during school holiday times e.g. over Christmas/ New Year, half-term Easter.
If you are planning to travel at the weekend or during a holiday period, don’t get caught out. Always check before you travel at国家铁路查询或与您的火车运营商GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway),Southernor泰格林。
