We run over 100 community schemes across Britain – from Cornwall to the Highlands

As part of our Community Rail programme, we invite voluntary groups to transform disused railway land in their area including old platforms, land adjoining stations, and land underneath viaducts. Everyone can join us: residents, ‘Station Friends' groups, transition town groups, charities, Community Rail Partnerships and local authorities.

Disley community rail station clean up

We get together to make all kinds of environmental improvements, from ‘clean-up days’ and painting over graffiti, to creating station gardens, wildlife areas, murals and artwork, planting fruit and vegetables, and clearing drains and undergrowth ready for heritage railways.

We keep volunteers safe and make sure that all community schemes coordinate with and complement the existing railway operation.

If you have an idea for a scheme in your community and would like some help to set it up please call our 24-hour helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
