Our Construction Quantity Surveyor apprenticeship is designed to provide people with the structure and support to continually develop and grow within Network Rail. Through a mix of study and on the job learning, you will achieve an Integrated Degree (without the cost!) as well as the exciting opportunity to use your learning in the workplace and become a qualified Commercial Manager by the end.

You will be guided by the Commercial Leaders who will empower you to grow and develop. You will also get the chance to work independently and learn how to thrive in high pressured environments.

Who you are

We’re looking for go-getters with an appetite to learn. Technical competence is not all that’s required to be successful, but it’s certainly a bonus if you have it! Soft skills are equally as important such as teamwork, communication, problem solving and adaptability.

What you’ll be doing

You will get the chance to work across the team giving you the opportunity to widen your skillset and excel in the area of construction quantity surveying. Along with part time education and internal training throughout the scheme, you will upskill yourself in the relevant skills and competencies required for Network Rail. Upon completion of the Level 6 qualification, you will be able to use your experience to become a fully effective professional with the opportunity to continue learning and developing in a specialist area. This apprenticeship combined with on the job learning at Network Rail will provide you with the chance to share experiences and network with other graduates and apprentices. Once you’ve completed the scheme, you can position yourself as a fully effective skilled professional with the opportunity to try out different roles and types of work.

What you’ll get out of it

Once completed, the following qualifications will be gained:

  • A BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or equivalent Quantity Surveying Level 6 Diploma that is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies and meets the educational requirements for the professional bodies’ full membership or chartered status.
  • Industry certificates in Site Safety Plus Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme and Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme which are required for safe operations in the workplace

This Apprenticeship will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours typically required to achieve full member or chartered status with the industry’s recognised professional bodies.

GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English language at grade C or grade 4, or above – PLUS one of the following:

  • an equivalent Cert HE or HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction-related subject

Or

  • successful completion of one the following Level 4 Apprenticeship Standards from an academic institution or registered training provider:
  • Building Services Engineering Technician
  • Construction Design and Build Technician
  • Construction Quantity Surveying Technician

  • Facilities Manager
